The word tip has more than one meaning – it can mean extra money for exceptional service or it can mean useful advice. In some countries, tipping is optional and serves as an incentive for a worker to provide good service. In other countries, tipping is obligatory and waiters will ask you what the problem was if you don’t tip.

I heard a joke about a lousy waiter who asked an unhappy customer for a tip. The angry gentleman replied, “Of course I’ll give you a tip – try harder next time!”
